Let the first velocity be v1=4m/s

and the second be v2=3m/s

It goes at velocity v1 for 3 s.

So the distance covered will be v1×3s

=4m/s×3m =12m

and it goes with velocity v2 for 2 s

so the distance will be

=v2×2s = 3m/s×2s =6m

so the total distance is 18 m

And the total time is (3+2)s =5s.

So the avg. speed will be =18/5 m/s

3.6m/s.

Hope it helped.
