average \: speed  =  \frac{ v1 + v2 + v3}{3}  \\ v1 = 2m {s}^{ - 1}  \\ v2 = 3m {s}^{ - 1} \\ v3 = 4m {s}^{ - 1}  \\  \\ average \: speed \:  =  \frac{2 + 3 + 4}{3}  \\  =  \frac{9}{3}   \\  = 3m  {s}^{ - 1}
