A body of mass 100 kg is lifted up by 10 m. find : (d) the amount of work done, (e) potential energy of the body at that height, (g = 10 ms-2)

work done by external force

W = + mgh

= 100x10x10

= 10000 J

U = U' + mgh
where U ' is the potential energy at reference

U = U' + 10000 J

if PE at reference (let here ground) is zero then

U = 10,000 J
