It is give by :

P.E. = m g h

where m is the mass of the object, g is the acceleration due to gravity and h is the height.

given, m = 5 kg

h' = 10 m

h = 4 m

g = 10 m/s²

Loss of P.E. = m g ( h' -h) = 5 × 10 × (10 -4 ) = 300 J

The total energy possessed by the body at any instant = potential energy at the top.

T.E. = m g h' = 5 ×10×10 = 500 J
