A body of mass 5kg gains acceleration of 2m.s-2 under the action of a force. When the same force acts on a second body, causes acceleration of 0.5m.s-2. Now the bodies are tied together and acted by the same force, what will be the acceleration produced in the combined masses?

Answer:

0.4 m/s2

Explanation:

5) F = ma

m1 = 5kg

a1 = 2 m/s2

 F = 5 x 2 = 10 N

Now,

F2 = 10N

a2 = 0.5 m/s2

 10 = 0.5 x m2

     m2 = 20 kg

Now,

M1 + M2 = 25 kg

 a = 10/25 = 2/5 = 0.4 m/s2 (Ans)
