Answer:

use change in momentum

Explanation:

m1u1+m2u2=m1v1+m2v2

5*6+2*0=5*v1+2*10

30+0=5v1+20

5v1=30-20

5v1=10

v1=2m/s

The speed of first object is 2 m/s.

Explanation:

Given that,

Mass of first body, m_1=5\ kg

Speed of object 1, u_1=6\ m/s

Mass of another body, m_2=2\ kg

Initially it is as rest, u_2=0

Final speed of body 2, v_2=10\ m/s

We need to find the final velocity of first body. It can be calculated using conservation of momentum as :

m_1u_1+m_2u_2=m_1v_1+m_2v_2

5(6)+0=5v_1+2(10)

v_1=2\ m/s

Hence, this is the required solution.
