The tension in the horizontal string is T1 = 2 √3 Kg

Explanation:

Corrects statement:

A body of weight 2kg is suspended as shown in the figure The tension T 1  in the horizontal string (in kg wt) is.

Solution:

  • Tension in the string is always divided into two components.
  • The tow components of the string are balanced by the weigh on both sides of the string.
  • ΣFH = 0 , ΣFv = 0

T1 - T2 sin(60°)

F = Kg - wt

T2 cos(60°) - 2 = 0

T2 sin (60°) = T1 -----  (1)

T2 cos(60°) = 2   -----(2)

tan (60°) = T1 / 2

T1 = 2 √3 Kg

Thus the tension in the horizontal string is T1 = 2 √3 Kg
