a body of weight 6 kg is suspended by two AB and CB which makes angles 30 and 60 with the vertical . Find the tension in AB. (the points A and C are at the same horizontal level ) in kg wt

see figure, here I have attached a rough diagram of given arrangements.

Let tension in AB is T and tension in CB is t.

from diagram,

horizontal component of T = horizontal component of t

Tsin30° = tsin60°

or, T/2 = √3t/2

or, T = √3t ......(1)

again, weight of body = vertical component of T + vertical component of t

or, 6kg × 10m/s² = Tcos30° + tcos60° [ weight of body = mass × g ]

or, 60N = √3T/2 + t/2

or, 60 = √3T/2 + T/2√3 [ from equation (1)]

or, 60 = T/2(√3 + 1/√3) = 4T/2√3 = 2T/√3

or, T = 60√3/2 = 30√3 N

hence, tension in AB = 30√3 N
