A body starts from rest from the origin with an accel-
eration of 6 m/s2 along the x-axis and 8 m/s2 along
the y-axis. Its distance from the origin after 4 seconds
will be :
(a) 56 m
(b) 64 m
(c) 80 m

Firstly we must add the acceleration vectorially ..

Its magnitude would be 10ms^-2 ( This is according to parllelogram law of addition)

Now according to the equation of Mechanics :

x = ut +  \frac{1}{2} at {}^{2}

Given that it is at rest initially... u=0

now if we calculate the distance by substituting the known values...

(1/2)×(10)×(4^2)=5×16

=80 meters
