and displacement = 5√5 m

explanation : see figure, A body travels a distance of 5m from P to Q and then moves a distance of 10m at right angle at PQ.

so, distance covered by body = length of PQ + length of QR

= 5m + 10m = 15m

displacement is the minimum separation from final position to initial position.

so, resultant displacement covered by body = length of PR

from Pythagoras theorem,

PR² = PQ² + QR².

= 5² + 10² = 125

or, PR = √125 = 5√5 m

hence, resultant displacement = 5√5m
