A body travels from A to B at 40m per second and from B to A at 60 m per second. Calculate the average speed and average velocity?

Let the distance A to B be s.
Then avg. Speed = t. Distance /t. Time
Total distance = 2s
Total time = s/1/40 + 1/60
= s(3/120+2/120)
= s(5/120) = s(1/24)
So. Avg speed = 2s/s(1/24)
= 2 X 24 =48m/s.
Then avg. Speed = t. Distance /t. Time
