Indian Standard Time is the time observed throughout india .
standard meridian of india is required to have  uniform time in whole of the country  as it passes almost through the centre of india that is in mirzapur (uttar pradesh)

Indian standard time is the local time of 82°30' east longitude which pass through mirzapur near allahabad in U.P.  IST is 5.30 ahead from the time of GMT(greenwhich mean time).

Indian standard time is important because it helps us to avoid confusion of time within the country.
