The weight of a body at distance equal to earth diameter above earth surface is 100 kg.

Explanation:

The acceleration due to gravity at height h above the Earth surface is given as

g_h=g(\frac{R}{R+h} )^2

Here, g is the acceleration due to gravity and R is the radius of the earth.

As per question, distance is equal to earth diameter above earth surface,

that is,  h =2 R.

so above equation becomes,

g_h=g(\frac{R}{R+2R})^2

g_h=\frac{g}{9}

Now weight given on the earth is

W = mg

990 = m x 10 m/s^2       (Take, g on earth surface =  10m/s^2)

m  = 99 kg

As we know that mass will remain same, so weight at height is

W=99kg\times\frac{10m/s^2}{9}

  = 100 kg

Thus, the weight of a body at distance equal to earth diameter above earth surface is 100 kg.
