A body whose mass is 6 kg is acted on by a force which changes
its velocity from 3 m s-1 to 5 m s-1. Find the impulse of the force. If the force is acted for 2 seconds, find the force in
newton.

Known:
mass (m)=6 kg
v₁=3 m/s
v₂=5 m/s
Δt=2 seconds
Asked : impulse (I) and Force (F)?
Answer:

Remember ,Law of Conservation of momentum :
 Impulse=Momentum
       I       =    p

So impulse?
I=p
 =m.Δv
 =m.(v₂-v₁)
 =6.(5-3)
 =6.(2)
 =12 kgm/s or 12 N/s

and,Force?
F.Δt=I
    F = I
         Δt
        = 12
             2
        =6 N
