A bomb of 25 kg mass moving with 10 m/s
velocity. Bomb explodes and divide into two
pieces of 15 kg and 10 kg. If big piece
becomes at rest then what will be the

Answer:

The velocity of small piece is 25 m/s.

Explanation:

Given that,

Mass of bomb = 25 kg

Velocity = 10 m/s

After explosion

Mass of big pieces = 15 kg

Mass of small piece = 10 kg

If big piece  becomes at rest so

Velocity of big piece = 0

Using conservation of momentum

m_{1}u_{1}+m_{2}u_{2}=m_{1}v_{1}+m_{2}v_{2}.....(I)

Where, u ₁= initial velocity before explosion

u₂ = final velocity before explosion

v₁ = velocity of big piece after explosion

v₂ = velocity of small piece after explosion

Put the all value in equation (I)

0+25\times10=15\times0+10\times v_{2}

250=0+10v_{2}

v_{2}=25\ m/s

Hence, The velocity of small piece is 25 m/s.
