A bomb of mass 0.5kg kept at rest , explodes . One part of mass 0.2 kg moves towards east with a velocity of 10m/s .What is the speed and direction of the other part?

Meu11: Formula will be used 0=m1v1+m2v2 (conservation of linear momentum)

It can be solved by conserving the momentum of the system
Mass 0.2 and other will be 0.3 kg
According to the first condition
The total mass is at rest so the momentum is 0
•second part says that the 0.2kg mass moves towards east with 10m/s
Thus the momentum comes to 2kgm/s
Now to conserve the momentum you have to have a -2kgm/s momentum
Thus the
• 0.3 kg part will flow towards the opposite side that's west with the velocity equal to
2/0.3 = 6.667 m/s

Meu11: Can you please explain me the formula used in this answer please
Meu11: Lestin in our book some formula are given as a hint of this question 0=m1 v1 +m2 v2 (Conservation of linear momentum )
