A bomb of mass 1 kg is thrown vertically upwards with a speed of 100m/s. After 5s,it explodes into fragements.One fragment of mass 600g is found to go down with a speed of 50m/s.What will happen to the second fragment just after the explosion?(g=10 m/s2)

Let mass of bomb be m
when it goes upwards
Initial velocity
u = 100 m/s
to 5 sec
We know
v = u + gt
v = 100 + 10 * 5
v = 150 m/sec
Thus final velocity of bomb will be 150 m/s
Also we are given that one fragment of 600 gm will fall with velocity of 50 m/s
Thus Clearly
Another fragment of 400 gm will fall with velocity of 150 - 50 = 100 m/s
when it goes upwards
