Ground water develops over years . it can't be replenished artificially. To replenish groundwater use of tubewells and wells has to be stopped. In hilly areas to prevent rainwater runoff, reservoirs should be made at the foothills by digging ground. the water collected there would seep into the soil and replenish groundwater. however all this takes a lot of time
