A bottle weighs 30g when empty , 53.4g when filled with a liquid and 48 g when filled with water.
Calculate the density of the liquid.
Given density of wtaer at 4°C = 1000 kg /m³

Anonymous: density of water = 1000 kg /m³

The density of the liquid is 1300 kg/m^3

  • The mass of the bottle = 30 g.
  • The mass of the liquid = 53.4 g - 30 g = 23.4 g.
  • The mass of water 48 g - 30 g = 18 g = 0.018 kg
  • We know, Density = Mass / Volume.
  • Volume of water = Mass / Density = 0.018 / 1000 =  18 * 10^(-6)
  • The density of the liquid = [23.4 * 10^(-3)] /   [18 * 10^(-6)]

                                                  = 1300 kg/m^3
