Given:

X contain 1 litre of lemon juice

X is poured into Y and Z

X is left with 0.6 litres

Y has a capacity of half as much as X and it is 1/5 filled.

Z is filled to half full.

To FInd:

The capacity of Z

Solution:

Find the capacity of Y:

Capacity of Y  = 1/2 of X

Capacity of Y = 0.5 litres

Find the amount of liquid in Y:

Y is filled to 1/5 full

Amount of liquid = 1/5 x 0.5 litres

Amount of liquid = 0.1 litres

Find the amount of liquid in Z

Amount of liquid left in X = 0.6 litres

Amount of liquid in Y = 0.1 litres

Amount of liquid in Z = 1 - 0.6 - 0.1

Amount of liquid in Z = 0.4 litres

Find the capacity of Z:

Z is half filled with the liquid

Z's capacity = 2 x 0.4

Z's capacity = 0.8 litres

Answer: The bottle Z contains 0.8 litres of liquid
