Given:

a box has 8 white socks and 8 black socks

  • At your 1st try you got a white sock.
  • Then at the 2nd you got a white sock too. Then you now have a pair of            white socks.
  • At your first try you got a white socks. Then at the second you got a black one. Then at your third trial you got either black or white. There you go you now have a pair of either black or white socks.

So here are 4 pairs.

(1) For minimum pairs 4/2=2

(2) for maximum pairs

There four pairs.

Hence for minimum there are 2 pairs and there are 4 maximum pairs
