Hey mate!!

HOPE THIS WOULD HELP YOU

Let x denote the number of 1-kg packets and y denote the number of 2-kg packets.

Since there are 150 total packets in the box, we see that:
x + y = 150. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .(1)

Then, since x 1-kg packets weigh x kg and y 2-kg packets weigh 2y kg, we see that the total weight of the box in terms of x and y is x + 2y. Then, since total weight of the box is 264 kg, we see that:
x + 2y = 264. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .(2)

By subtracting (1) from (2), we get:
(x + 2y) - (x + y) = 264 - 150 ==> y = 114.

Therefore, there are 114 2-kg packets in the box and the answer is 114kg

I hope this helps!

The number of 2 kg packets are = 114

Given :

  • A box of 150 packets consists of 1 kg packets and 2 kg packets.

  • Total weight of box is 264 kg.

To find :

The number of 2 kg packets

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Form the equation

Let number of 1 kg packets = n

Since there are 150 packets in the box

∴ Number of 2 kg packets = 150 - n

By the given condition

\displaystyle \sf (n \times 1) +(150 - n) \times 2 = 264

Step 2 of 2 :

Calculate number of 2 kg packets

\displaystyle \sf (n \times 1) +(150 - n) \times 2 = 264

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies }n + 300 - 2n = 264

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies }300 - n = 264

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies }n = 300 - 264

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies }n = 36

Number of 1 kg packets = 36

Number of 2 kg packets = 150 - 36 = 114
