Given:

Time = 1sec

Speed = 330m/s

To Find:

Distance of the hill

Solution:

As we know,

Speed = Distance/Time

∴ Distance = Speed × Time

= 330 × 1/2

= 115m

Hence, the distance of hill from the body is 115m.

Given :-

  • A boy hears an echo of his own voice from a distant hill after one second .
  • Speed of sound in air is 330 m/s

To Find :-

  • Distance of hill from the boy

Solution :-

→ Let ' d ' be the distance of the hill from the body .

→ Total distance travelled by the sound in going and coming back is ' 2d '

→ Now ,

\mathcal{\underline{\underline{\boxed{Speed\;of\;sound=\dfrac{Total\;distance}{Time\;taken} }}}}}

\sf \therefore V = \dfrac{2d}{t} \;or\; d = \dfrac{V \times t }{2}

\sf \implies d = \dfrac{330 \times 1 }{2}

\sf \implies d = 165 \; m

∴ The distance b/w hill and the boys is 165 m
