Explanation:

The things to be taken into consideration are :-

1. The boy has 30 minutes in hand to reach his school as classes start at 10:00 am and he leaves his house at 9:30 am.

Solution :-

1. Distance from house to school = 2 km

2. The boy walks the first kilometer with 3 km/hr speed.

∴ [ 1 Hour = 60 Minutes ]

∴ If to cover 3 kilometers it takes 60 minutes for the boy then to cover 1 km it would take him :-  60 / 3  =  20 minutes.

3. Now we know that the boy has covered the first kilometer in 20 minutes.

4. He has ( 30 - 20 ) = 10 minutes to reach the school now and has to cover the remaining 1 kilometer.

5. ∴ The boy now has to cover 1 km in 10 minutes.

6. If the boy travels at a speed with which he covers 1 km in 10 minutes then at the same speed he can cover 6 km in 60 minutes.

7. [ 60 minutes = 1 Hour ]

8. Therefore to cover the remaining distance of 1 km in 10 minutes the boy needs to have a speed of 6 km/hr

9.  Answer :- The boy should walk at a speed of 6 km/hr to cover the remaining second kilometer.
