The speed of the boy in ms-1 is 60ms-1 and the speed of the boy in km h-1 is 216 km h-1.

• Given data :

The boy runs 180 metres in the time of 30 seconds.

• To calculate his speed in the metre per second unit,we have to calculate the distance covered by him in a single second,by using the following mathematical formula :

= Total covered distance/ Total time taken

= 180/30

= 60 metres.

So,his speed in ms-1 form is 60ms-1. (Answer)

• To calculate his speed in the kilometre per hour unit, we have to calculate the distance covered by him in a single hour,by using mathematical method :

He covers in 1 second = 60 metres

He covers in 3600 seconds (or 1 Hour) = 60×3600 = 216000 metres = 216 kilometres

So,his speed in km h-1 is 216 km h-1 (answer).
