a boy runs from his home to the market one kilometre away he reaches the market in 30 minutes the market closed he at once runs back home and stop after 15 minute at his friends house which is half kilometre away from the market calculate the average speed and average velocity during this journey? ​

Average speed= total distance /total time taken=

1000+ 500/ 45*60 m/s =

1500/2700 m/sec = 0.55 m/sec

Average velocity = total displacement /total time =

500/2700 m/sec

= 0.185 m/sec

Then, time taken by him to cover 1km = 30min

And then he travelled to his friend which is half kilometre in the direction of his house from the market.

Then, Total distance travelled =

1 +  \frac{1}{2}  \: km

 =  \frac{3}{2}  \: km

And total displacement =

1 -  \frac{1}{2 \:}  \: km

 =  \frac{1}{2}  \: km

We know,

average \: speed \:  =  \frac{total \: distanve \: travelled}{total \: time \: taken \: }

average \: speed \:  =  \:  \frac{3}{2}  \div (30 + 15) \\  =  \frac{3}{2}  \div 45  =  \frac{1}{30} km \: per \: second

and \: average \: velocity \:  =  \frac{total \: displacement}{total \: time \: taken}  \\   =  \frac{1}{2}  \div 45 =  \frac{1}{90} km \: per \: second
