Let the Pocket money be x.
Total % of money he uses= 40%
Total % of money remained= (100-40)% = 60%
Money remained= 60% of x
But,
Money remained= rs36 (given)
SO,
=> 60% of x = 36
=> 60/100 * x= 36
=> 6 * x = 36 * 10
=>x = 360/6
=> x = rs 60
So,
Total pocket money = rs. 60.

The pocket money that the boy receives would be Rs. 60

Step-by-step explanation:

Assuming the pocket money that the boy received be x

Given that,

The percentage of the money he spends = 40% of x

= 40x/100

Now,

The money left = (100% - 40%)

= 60% of x

= 60x/100

As per the question,

Money remained = Rs. 36

Therefore,

60x/100 = 36

60x = 3600

x = 3600/60

x = 60

Thus, the pocket money he received would be Rs. 60 out of which he spends Rs. 24 and left with Rs. 36.
