A boy standing at a point o finds his kites flying at a point p with distance op=25m .It is at a height of 5m from the ground.When the thread is extended by 10m from p, it reaches a point q.What will be the height qn of the kite from the ground ? ​

Solution:

In the figure,

∆OPM, ∆ OQN are similar triangles. In similar triangles the sides are in the same proportional.

Therefore,

 \frac{qn}{pm}  =  \frac{qo}{po}

 \frac{h}{5}  =  \frac{35}{25}

h =  \frac{5 \times 35}{25}

h =    \frac{35}{5}

h = 7m.

Hence, height is 7meters
