A boy starts towards east with uniform speed of 5m/s. After t = 2 second he turns right and travels 40
m with same speed. Again he turns right and travels for 8second with same speed. Find out the
displacement; average speed, average velocity and total distance travelled.

The boy is moving towards east with uniform speed of 5m/s for 2 sec hence he travel a distance of v×t i.e.5×2=10m towards east.

When he makes a turn he is phasing south direction and travels for 40m with same 5m/s so he travels for 40/5 sec i.e.8sec.

Now he turns right i.e. towards west and walks for 8 sec with same speed so the distance would be 5×8=40m.

Now by forming the diagram we can see that he travels 90m in all and for total of 18 sec. (4 ans)

The total displacement will be of 50 m (1 ans)

Average speed=total distance /total time =90/18 =5m/s(2 ans)

Average velocity= displacement /total time = 50/18 = 2.78m/s (3 ans)
