Answer :-

Given :-

  • Distance travelled = 5 m
  • Time taken = 5 sec

To Find :-

  • Velocity

Solution :-

\rm Velocity = \dfrac{Displacement}{Time}

\rm = \dfrac{5}{5}

\rm = 1 m/s

\boxed{\rm Velocity = 1 \: m/s}

Additional information :-

➩ Acceleration - It is the rate of change of velocity per unit time.

\rm a = \dfrac{v-u}{t}

➩ Unit of acceleration - m/s²

➩ SI Unit of velocity - m/s

➩ CGS unit of velocity - cm/s

The velocity is 2ms-1 and the correct option is 4) None of the above.

Given:

A boy travels from position A to B covering a 5 m distance in 5 seconds.

To Find:

The velocity.

Solution:

To find the velocity we will follow the following steps:

As we know,

Velocity, acceleration and distance relations are given by:

V²-u² = 2as

Here, a is acceleration, v is the final velocity and a is the distance in SI units.

And u is the initial velocity which is 0 as it is started from rest.

But, acceleration is not given. so, we will calculate acceleration by the formula-

 s = ut +  \frac{1}{2} a {t}^{2}

5  = 0 \times 5 +  \frac{1}{2} a {(5)}^{2}  =    \frac{1}{2}25a \:  =  \frac{10}{25}  a = 0.4m {s}^{ - 2}

Now, put the value of acceleration in the above formula to find the velocity we get,

v² - 0 = 2×0.4×5 =4

v =  \sqrt{4}  = 2m {s}^{ - 1}

Henceforth, the velocity is 2ms-1 and the correct option is 4) None of the above.
