A boy walks towards a mirror at a speed of 2.5m/s .At what speed is his image approaching him?

So velocity of boy (vb)=1m/s

Speed of boy as seen in mirror (vm)= -1m/s

The “-” sign is due to the fact that image moves towards the boy , I.e, in his opposite direction.

Therefore the relative velocity of the image wrt to the image is vb- vm (as they travel in opposite directions)

Vb-vm= 1-(-1)= 2m/s

Therefore the boy will feel that the image is approaching him with a speed of 2m/s.

In general the speed in mirror will be twice the actual speed of object.
