a brick has a dimension of 3 cm 4 cm 9cm It is placed on a plane horizontal surface in different orientation .what is the ratio of maximum and minimum pressure exerted by the brick on the surface ​

We know

p =  \frac{f}{a}

Now when brick is placed on side which has maximum area pressure will be minimum , so

max area side = 9 × 4 = 36

Similarly

when brick is placed on side which has minimum area pressure will be maximum , so

min area side = 3× 4 = 12

So ratio

 \frac{max}{min}  =  \frac{36}{12} = 3
