A brick is 30 cm long, 10cm wind and 10cm thick. It weight Is 24N and is lying on the ground. Find the pressure exerted by the brick on the ground.

If the brick is kept by it's length.

Then ,

The base area = 300cm² = 0.3m ²

and force = 24N

Hence, the pressure = 24/0.3 = 80pa.

(as pressure = force/ area)

Similarly,

When it's kept by it's width

Then,

The base area = 100cm² = 0.1m²

Hence, pressure = 24/0.1 = 240pa .

and it would be the same pressure when it's kept by it's thickness as both are same.
