Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

water needed to fill the bucket = 15 litres

filling at a rate of = 1 litre/min or 1000ml/60seconds or 50/3 ml/sec

in 5 mins water filled = 5×1 = 5 litres

remaining = 15 - 5 = 10 litres

rate with which it is wasting = 10ml/sec

rate with which it is going to fill the remaining 10 l would be =

                               (50/3 - 10)ml/sec = 20/3 ml/lit

water to be filled = 10 litre

rate = 20/3 ml/sec

time required = 10000/ (20/3) = 10000×3/20 = 1500 secs 0r 1500/60 mins

                                                       = 25 minutes

5 minutes to fill 5 litres

25 minutes to fill 10 litres

total time = 30 minutes

water saved = 1500×10 = 15000 = 15 litres
