A builder uses ratio to mix mortar when building a wall. The ratio of sand to cement is 4:1, that means for every 4 shovels of sand, the builder needs 1 shovel of cement. a) How many shivels of sand need to be added to two shovels of cement? b) How many shovels of sand need to be added to five shovels of cement?​

(a) 8 shovels of cement

(b) 20 shovels of cement

Cement/sand = 4/1 = x/2 = y/5

X = 4*2 = 8

Y = 4*5 = 20
