not cracked. But on the other hand, when a stone strikes the same glass pane, it gets smashed. Why is it so?​

When a bullet is fired against a glass window pane,it makes a hole in it,and the whole glass pane is not cracked. But on the other hand,when a stone strikes the same glass pane,it gets smashed.

Scientific reason:-

This is becaue,the time of contact of bullet with the window pane is short. In this time duration,the whole window does not come to motion. It remains at rest due to inertia of rest.

But if a stone hits the window pane,the time of contact of the stone with the pane is enough to shake the complete glass of the window. Thus,the glass pane gets smashed.
