we use the law of conservation of mass,so,

recoil velocity ×mass of gun=. velocity of bullet×mass of bullet

so,

v×10kg=20/1000kg×500 m/s

v×10 kg =10 kg m/s

v=10kgm/s÷10kg

therefore,v = 1 m/s

hence , recoil velocity of gun = 1m/s
