According to Law of conservation of linear momentum,

m1u1 + m2u2 = m1v1 + m2v2

Since, the bullet and the gun were initially at rest,

0 = 5x/1000 - 1.5x 1.5

2.25x1000/5 = x

x = 450 m/s
