A bullet of mass 0.04 kg is fired from a gun weighing 9.5kg. if the initial velocity of bullet is 400m/s calculate the speed at which the gun recoils

V= velocity

MV= -MV (negative because of opposite direction)

MV + MV = 0

V= velocity of gun recoiling

(0.04 X 400) + (9.5 X V) = 0

16 + 9.5V= 0

9.5V= -16

V= 16/9.5 (Negative sign is removed because it is for showing direction, and that's not needed any more.)

V= 1.6842 m/s
