A bullet of mass 15g has a velocity of 400m/s. What is its kinetic energy if the bullet strikes a thick target and is brought to rest in 2cm.

KE of the bullet will be 1/2 ×mv^2

this simplifies to

For force

W=Fs

W=(KE)f-(KE)i

W=-1200J

-1200=F×0.02

F=6×10^4N
