A bullet of mass 15g is fired from a gun of mass 5 kg with a velocity of 500mls calculate the recoil velocity of the gun.​

Hey buddy.... Here is your answer,

BULLET :

mass=15 g= 0.015kg

velocity=500m/s

GUN:

Mass=5kg

velocity=? (to be calculated)

mass of bullet × velocity of bullet =

mass of gun × velocity( recoiling) of gun

=0.015kg × 500m/s =5kg × velocity

=7.5kg m/s = 5kg × velocity

=7.5kg m/s ÷ 5kg = velocity

=velocity =1.5 m/s

As the recoiling is happening in negative direction that's why the answer will be in negative i.e -1.5m/s
