A bullet of mass 20g is fired from a pistol of mass 2kg with a horizontal velocity of 150m/s. Calculate the recoil velocity of the pistol.

Recoil velocity = -mass of bullet*velocity the bullet /Mass of Gun
V=-20*150/2000
V=-30000/2000
V=-15m/s

The momentum is being conserved.
So, 20 × 150 = 2000 × recoil velocity
ie, recoil velocity = 3000÷2000
=1.5 m/s
