A bullet of mass 50 g moving horizontally with
velocity 100 m s-!, hits and get embadded in a
wooden block of mass 450 g placed on a vertical
wall of height 19.6 m. If the bullet gets embedded in
the block, then find how far from the wall, does the
block fall on the ground? (Take g = m/s2)

Answer:

The momentum carried by the moving ball is = mass x velocity. So,

REFER TO THE ATTACHMENT...

Thus, the range covered by the projectile before it touches the ground is

R = v x T = 10 x 2 = 20 m
