A bullet of mass is fired with a velocity of hundred meter per seconds. if gun is 10 kg what would be the recoil velocity of gun.??

The recoil velocity of gun weighing 10kg or 10000gram is due to opposite action due to firing bullet of 10gram with velocity of 300 m/s can be calculated as below :

The kinetic energy imparted by firing is 1/2 mvv where m is massof bullet weighing 10 gram and v the bullet velocity as 300m/s =

0.5*10*300*300 gram*m*m/(s*s) or 450000 gram*m*m/(s*s)

This is the opposite force on gun to kick backwards with velocity v m/s to generate same kinetic energy .

So , 0.5*10000*v*v = 450000 or

v *v = 450000/5000 = 90 or v = root 90= 3*root 10 m/s
