This is a question on momentum.

The initial velocity for the block of ice is 0.

This is because the block of ice is at rest.

Momentum = mass × velocity

By law of conservation of momentum :

Initial momentum = final momentum

Initial momentum :

(10/1000 × 300 + 0 × 5) = 3

Final momentum :

(5 + 0.01) V = 5.01V

By law of conservation of linear momentum :

5.01V = 3

V = 3/5.01 = 0.5988

V = 0.6 m/s

The ice moves at :

= 0.6 m/s
