Given :

  • Initial velocity (u) = 54 km/h
  • Final velocity (v) = 72 km/h
  • Time interval (t) = 10 seconds

To Find :

  • Acceleration in km/h² and m/s²

Solution :

We're given that a bus changes its speed from 54 km/h to 72 km/h in 10 seconds.

So, for finding acceleration in km/h² we've to convert time into hours.

⇒Time = 10 seconds

⇒Time = 10/3600

⇒Time = 0.00278

\therefore Time interval is 0.00278 hours

➠ a = v - u/t

⇒a = (72 - 54)/0.00278

⇒a = 6474.82 km/h²

\therefore Acceleration in km/h is 6474.82 km/h²

Now, convert velocity to m/s by multiplying it by 5/18

  • Initial velocity = 54 * 5/18 = 15
  • Final velocity = 72 * 5/18 = 20
  • Time (t) = 20 s

⇒a = v - u/t

⇒a = (20 - 15)/10

⇒a = 5/10

⇒a = 1/2

⇒a = 0.5

\therefore Acceleration in m/s² is 0.5 m/s²
