Answer:

u= initial velocity= 80 km/h = 22.2 m/s

v= final velocity = 60 km/h = 16.7 m/s

t= time = 5 s

a= acceleration = ?

a=v-u/t

a= 16.7-22.2/5

a= -5.5/5

Therefore, a=-1.1 m/s^2

GIVEN :-

  • Initial velocity (u) = 80 km/h
  • Final velocity (v) = 60 km/h
  • Time (t) = 5 sec

TO FIND :-

  • The acceleration of the bus.

SOLUTION :-

u = (80 × 1000)/3600 m/s

u = 200/9 m/s

v = (60 × 1000)/3600 m/s

v = 50/3 m/s

Change in velocity,

Final velocity - Initial velocity

⇒ 50/3 - 200/9

⇒ (150 - 200)/9

⇒ -50/8 m/s

Acceleration = change in velocity/time

⇒ (-50/9)/5

⇒ -50/9 × 5

⇒-50/45

⇒ -10/9

-1.11 m/s²

Note :- (-) sign in the acceleration shows negative acceleration or retardation.
