Explanation:f the bus is doing 30 mph and you overtake at 40 mph you, of course as you pull alongside you SEEM to be going at 10 mph as you overtake and the bus seems stationary.
If a bus is coming toward you at 30 mph and you are doing 40 mph then your combined closing speed is 70 mph - so as it goes past you the speed appears to be 60 mph more than when overtaking.
