The mass of the bus is 6506.02 kg.

Given,

A bus starts moving from rest and attains a velocity of 90 km/hr after 5 minutes. The force exerted by the engine is 540 N.

To Find,

The mass of the bus.

Solution,

First of all, we will convert the velocity of the bus in m/sec.

90 km/hr = 90*5/18 m/sec

90 km/hr = 25 m/sec.

Using the equation of motion

v = u + at

where,

v is the final velocity = 25 m/sec

u is the initial velocity = 0 m/sec

t is the time taken = 5 minutes = 5*60 = 300 seconds

a is the acceleration

So,

25 = 0+a(300)

a = 25/300

a = 0.083 m/s²

Now,

Force = mass*acceleration

540 = mass*(0.083)

mass = 540/0.083

mass = 6506.02 kg

Hence, the mass of the bus is 6506.02 kg.
