Answer:

Distance travelled = 700km

Initial Speed = ? (to be calculated)

New speed = 20kmph

Time taken to travel 700 km at initial speed = x

Time taken to travel 700 km at new speed (20 kmph) = x + 4

Speed = Distance/Time

So, 20 = 700/x+4

20x + 80 = 700

x = time taken at initial speed = 31 hrs

x + 4 = time taken at new speed = 31 + 4 = 35 hrs

Initial speed = 700/31 = 22.58 kmph

So, the bus covers 700 km with the initial speed of 22.58 kmph.
